The weather in Captiva this year was the coolest I have ever experienced in Florida! The Gulf of Mexico was 50 degrees and a few days were overcast and windy. But we did manage to do some great kayaking among the mangroves where we saw beautiful birds, and went to our favorite birding spot the Ding Darling Nature Preserve. We even took in a jazz concert on our last night so all was not lost. This heron stayed right behind our apartment!
