This is a 3-d collage that I did for the Artella class about time. In order for me to have creative energy I need to be able to not pay attention to time as we know it. When I'm in the creative zone time doesn't exist. This piece is illustrates how I feel when I'm in the "zone." The small pieces at the top are the inside of a watch that belonged to my late father. The shells come from Captiva Florida and the background is mulberry paper and stamps. This is my entry for The Three Muses challenge entitled wings.

Fabulous piece. Great use of the shells!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and delicate Sharon- truly original and expressive! I too lose track of time when engaged in art play- it's the best meditation there is for me!
ReplyDeleteI can't find the reference, but your piece reminds me of the quote "The bird of time is on the wing..." Was it Omar Khayyam? Anyway, a thoughtful piece of art. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteStunning creation, so different, Sharon, time certainly does stand still when one is in the 'creative zone!'
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, it has such a magical feel to it.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason this piece brought to my mind a piece of Omar Khayyam:
ReplyDelete"Come, fill the cup & in this fire of Spring
your winter garment of repentance fling.
The Bird of Time has but a little way
to flutter---and the Bird is on the wing."
But, I digress! It's a thoughtful, lovely piece, and the journaling makes it ever so much more meaningful. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sharon, for visiting me! I am not sure about what it means to follow but I did add icon you mentioned - is that all I do? I will follow you as well - hope I do it right! Kartika
ReplyDeleteI like this - it reminds me of my 'just returned from' holiday where mussel shells were aplenty on the beach... and mermaids ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great work, Sharon! Love your creation!
ReplyDeleteOh Sharon, this piece just sings to me. I completely relate to its sentiment and always feel that it's a blessing to have one marvelous thing in life that takes us right out of time. I try not to even wear a watch while I'm creating. You asked about an altered book/journal exchange and I honestly thought you'd somehow read my mind. I've been toying with the idea myself so please count me in. If you need any assistance in organizing, I'd love to assist. Hugs...Heather
