Counting the Ours

This is a piece I did for a wonderful online course I took about re-thinking the concept of time at Artella. This site run by Marney Makridikas is treasure trove for mixed media artists. The background is a note written when I was 7. The circular form is a movie reel. The idea behind this piece is that we can think about hours in ways other than minutes, ie 3 is chi, 8 is create, eleven is "reven" and 12 is delve ~ a chance to look at things on a deeper level.
This is my entry for the Three Muses Challenge of Art in the Round.

  1. This very thought provoking Sharon! I love the idea of thinking of time differently. Awesome concept. Who was your letter too when you were 7? Curious minds want to know:) Love, Jamie

  2. This is beautiful, Sharon, and a novel idea to play around with a clock face and give it a new look. Great work.
The address for the free-to-use photos is:

I think you need a Flickr ID so that you can ask to be invited to join. This is just a formality and it only takes a day or two. Check the blurb under the front page pictures for instructions.
There are thousands of pictures and they are posted thick and fast. I go there every day to see new pictures and I am never disappointed. There is some delightful stuff on this website. My two ladies were sepia to begin with and I coloured them in Corel Painter Essentials with a great water colour brush which colours without losing any of the fine detail underneath. Hope that helps!! Thanks for your kind comments.
    Cheers, Marie.

  9. Thanks for your kind comments on my circle - you asked where I got my blog background. Well, if you go back to my blog and look at the top left hand corner there is a little square graphic which says "Cute 'n' cool BlogStuff"; if you click on that it will take you to the site where there are loads of backgrounds and instructions on how to load them. It's run by Itkupilli whose art you may well know already. Good Luck!
